Membership

  • The Association shall have individual and honorary members.
  • The following persons may be individual members of the Association: citizens of the Russian Federation, foreign surgeons and professionals who hold diplomas of higher education, work in surgery and adjacent fields, accept the Articles of Association, participate in person in implementing the Association’s areas of activity and support it financially.
  • The following persons may be honorary members of the Association: famous surgeons, physicians, scientists, policy makers, public figures, professionals in health care and other areas of social activity who contribute greatly to the development of surgery and are willing to participate in the activity of the Association and accept its Articles of Association.
  • The following entities may be members of the Association: public associations who accept its Articles of Association and wish to contribute to the activity of the Association.
  • Individuals shall be admitted as members of the Association by filing a personal application; corporate entities from among public associations, under a resolution of the appropriate duly authorized body. Such resolution shall be adopted by the regional branch or the Executive Council of the Association in accordance with the procedure set forth in these Articles of Association.
  • Members of the Association (corporate entities from among public associations through their duly authorized representatives) MAY:
    – elect and to be elected to the governing bodies of the Association;
    – submit for consideration by the bodies of the Association proposals concerning its activity and to participate in discussing such issues;
    – participate in the events held by the Associationе;
    – have information about the activity of the Association;
    – withdraw voluntarily from the Association.
  • Members of the Association SHALL:
    – take an active part in accomplishing the objectives of the Association;
    – pay the enrolment and membership fees in a timely manner;
    – provide to the Association information on issues related to the activity of the Association;
    – comply with the provisions of these Articles of Association;
    – fulfill the resolutions of the governing bodies of the Association.
  • A member may be expelled from the Association for breaching the Articles of Association, failing to fulfill the resolutions of the governing bodies of the Association and causing moral or financial damage to the Association. Such resolution shall be adopted by the Executive Council and subsequently shall be approved at the conference, the resolution of the latter shall be final. A member may be expelled from the Association for failing to pay the enrolment and membership fees in accordance with the same procedure as provided for in this paragraph of the Articles of Association.
    Voluntary withdrawal shall be preceded by the mandatory submission of a personal application to the Executive Council (or a resolution of the appropriate duly authorized body in case of a public association); the resolution of the governing body of the Association on the issue shall not be required.
    Resolutions on expulsion may be adopted by the governing bodies of the regional branches of the Association and appealed before the Executive Council of the Association and the Conference, the resolution of the latter shall be final.
